THE MOMENT
Agent Johnson sat down at the small table with a fair amount of confusion. There were two teenagers in black suits waiting to interview him. He got the impression at every step that this was a formal interview, but he had no idea why two high schoolers were giving it.
"Hello Agent Johnson," the shorter boy nodded. "My name is Alvin and this is my partner Moose," he said. Moose was as tall, if not taller than Agent Johnson but his youthful face gave him away.
"I know there've been a lot of strange things going on lately with the President's... affliction..," Agent Johnson said as he stared at the two boys. "I heard I was up for a promotion, but I'm curious why I'm being interviewed by children," he said.
"Experience for both parties," Alvin shrugged. "Moose and I are new to the Bureau so we get experience onboarding new faces. And, you are a new face, so you need to be ready for the unexpected. Like two high school students that are ranked higher than you," he said.
"You kids work for the FBI?" Agent Johnson asked. Both of them shook their heads.
"Not that bureau," Moose said. "The B.A.A."
"The Bureau of Alternate Agencies," Alvin clarified. "The Bureau that you've been assigned to now that the president is a vampire."
"What? Why?" Agent Johnson asked. "What does the B.A.A. do?"
"Infinite alternate Earths exist in other realities," Alvin said. "Most Earths have humans and most humans like to create agencies and organizations."
"The B.A.A. coordinates all those agencies across universes," Moose added. "When the president was infected, the B.A.A. found a precedent to let him continue in office in another universe. As well as managing his cravings so he doesn't have to eat his constituents," Moose chuckled.
"But, as a result, this Earth is now part of the greater multiverse. That's why you're with us now," Alvin said.
"Wait.. you found a precedent..?" Agent Johnson asked. "Does that mean there was a vampire President on another Earth somewhere?" Moose and Alvin nodded.
"He still is," Alvin said.
"President Dracula is pretty popular,” Moose added.
