THE MOMENT
April fumed to herself as she sat on the bed. The ball of anger growing in her gut helped keep the disgust in check. He never lied about anything; she admitted that much to herself. But, she could never look at him the same way again after the things she discovered. In a way, she was glad she found out what kind of degenerate he really was before they started talking about marriage. April heard the shower shut off and she made her decision.
"Hey babe. Going somewhere?" Alex asked. By the time he walked out of the bathroom with a white towel around his waist April was dressed and slipping her shoes on. She stopped fiddling with her shoe long enough to look up and glare at him with cold, dark brown eyes.
"I went through your phone," she said as if that explained her sour mood and rush to leave. It didn't to Alex.
"...And?" he chuckled.
"And..," April rolled her eyes as she stood from the bed with her purse in hand. "...you're disgusting." She walked toward the door but Alex put himself in her way.
"Hold on, what are you talking about?" Alex asked. "I don't have anything to hide, so I don't care about the snooping; but, what exactly upset you?" April huffed and crossed her arms.
"I wondered why you were always busy on Sunday and found out about your little party group every week," April replied. Alex tilted his head.
"I've told you every time I go; how is it a surprise?" he asked.
"If I'd known what you actually do there, we wouldn't still be dating," April replied smoothly. "If you don't get out of my way, I'm going to assume you're holding me prisoner and fight my way out."
"Waitwaitwait!" Alex held his hands up. He took a step back but was still blocking the door. "What do mean? We play D&D! I've INVITED you!" he said.
"And I'm glad I didn't go," April replied. "You probably would have tried to feed me some of that grotesque monstrosity."
"What the hell are you talking about?" Alex asked. His voice growled with frustration.
"You.. and your degenerate little friends...," April shuddered in disgust as she thought about it. "... pineapple on pizza? How dare you!?" She slapped him hard on his right cheek. It stung hard enough to move him out of her way, then she walked out.
