THE MOMENT
"Oh my god, another one?" Pyxis sighed. The tiny brunette growled as she charged at him. She dashed across his throne room with her tiny chainmail cloak jangling. The rest of the group, three men and two women, stood at the entrance to the throne room; each wore a broad grin as the little girl ran.
Pyxis gestured at the space in front of him moments before the child tackled him down. A black portal opened and swallowed the girl entirely; then, it disappeared once she was gone. The rest of the group finally seemed interested as they all finally drew their weapons.
"Where'd she go!?" The knight asked. The group spread out and approached Pyxis. The evil lord shook his head with a smile.
"Let me guess, your backwater Earth finally joined the multiverse, right? You were watching shows from other universes one day and something caught your eye. A news show that introduced some girls that were stronger than a full-grown Super. So you rush out into the multiverse trying to find your own strong girl because it's fun to catch people by surprise. But, you never watched the full episode. You have no idea why those girls were special," Pyxis said. He made a gesture with his hand and a horizontal black portal opened in the air in front of the adventuring party.
"You have no idea what separates them from every other party that's thrown preteens at me this week. You don't know why they're Unique and Suzy...," Suzy's blood-covered chain armor fell out of the hole and landed at their feet. "...wasn't special at all."
Suzy's armor was enough to finally prod the team to action. However, as a team they were now one person short and heavily outmatched. The fight did not last long at all as Pyxis defeated all the adventurers one by one.
"Wait, please," the final adventurer begged as Pyxis approached. She was a knight but her sword was broken and her shield was on the other side of the room.
"Out of Character, Suzy's okay, right? This is our first time here," she whispered once Pyxis was close enough. The dark wizard rolled his eyes.
"Yeah," he grumbled. He raised his staff into the air and locked eyes with the kneeling knight. "Your party is defeated! I hereby...," The knight's smile grew as Pyxis gave his monologue; it was distracting. He sighed and lowered his staff.
"You lose, I win. Game over, go home," he said. The knight's expression soured.
"That's it? That's not very in character," she mumbled. Pyxis smiled.
"Now you know how I feel!" he said. "Every other group coming through here wants to throw six-year-olds at me. Is that in character?" Pyxis asked. A tiny voice echoed around them; Pyxis rolled his eyes again.
"I'm seven!"
