THE MOMENT
The day was already one for the history books, even as Superior Stanley tried to stay focused. He was dizzy, and the oncoming man in a pink polo and blue jeans sometimes became two villains. Superior Stanley was recognized as the strongest man alive, and a single punch from the villain left him dazed.
He wasn't the only hero who tried to stop the walking disaster, but he was the only one left still standing. The rest either had to retreat due to heavy wounds or were already dead. The entire Super Society, and more than a few villains had been wiped out in a single half-hour session. And, all the villain did was walk forward.
"I'll be the one to stop you," Superior Stanley grinned as he gathered his strength.
"If you really want to do that, you can just give up now," the bulky man nodded. "I only need one hero. Unfortunately, most people don't understand that, and I have to go through so many just to find one willing to give their life for the greater good. It's always the same," he chuckled. "I walk through town until I get down to the last hero, and it wastes so much time," he said.
"Give up?" Superior Stanley shook his head. He hovered just out of the man's reach with his arms crossed. "Clearly you don't know who you're talking to if you think-,"
"Look, you're a hero, so I'll make it easy. Come with me right now, or I destroy this world."
"I'm to assume that you somehow set up a doomsday machine somewhere, and you're only revealing it now?" Superior Stanley shook his head. "No, I believe today will be Historic. The day the Super Society lost a lot of good people, but it will also be remembered as the day of their vengeance." He was ready to move as soon as the stranger attacked. He was banking on his strength, and a surprise ability he hadn't revealed yet.
"I don't have time," the villain shook his head. "Today won't go down in history, today won't go down in stone," he grinned. "you will be forgotten."
"As long as the people-," While Superior Stanley started to credit the people who would remember him, the stranger moved. Lightning fast, quicker than Superior Stanley was ready for, except he didn't attack the hero. The pink-shirted villain knelt to punch the blacktop, and the Earth started to shake. Then, the street began to split.
"You could go around saving people," the villain shrugged as he threw a black card on the trembling ground. It opened a black portal like the one that Superior Stanley had watched him arrive from, and he stepped on it like a solid surface. "There wouldn't be much of a point though, your Earth is broken, and none of you will survive."
