THE MOMENT

"No I get it, you're immortal," Jaelin nodded. He was new to the arms game, but on his way to building a solid reputation. Keenan was his first 'special' client, and he was doing his best to take everything in stride. He hadn't expected to be dealing with a recently awakened immortal, but he was determined to be professional. And, part of that profession was understanding his client's needs. "What I don't understand is why you want a sword. We have guns now," he added.

Jaelin's office, as it was, consisted of a small kitchenette-sized room on the 8th floor of a Chroma Corp. tower. It wasn't big, but the location alone meant he was respected and trustworthy enough to work with the company. He didn't have any windows, and his desk took up almost half the space, but fortunately, Keenan was a slight, elderly man with stringy silver hair. He didn't even occupy the entire chair he sat in. On first glance, he didn't look like much of a fighter, and the kickback from a handgun might've sent him flying, but the old man smiled and shook his head.

"No, sonny, I don't think you really get it," he chuckled. "Still, you don't need to understand it to sell me a sword, right?"

"That's true," Jaelin nodded. He wondered what the immortal meant, but that would have to wait. He was working. "What kind of sword are you looking for? Anything specific in mind?"

"It's probably outta my range, but it don't hurt to ask. Any chance of an affordable Replica?" he asked.

There were two types of Arms dealers. Those who knew what Keenan was asking, and those who followed up his question with, 'a replica of what?'. Up until he joined Chroma Corp., Jaelin was one of the second type. But now that he knew, he shook his head. And, it made sense why he'd want a sword, because he wanted a specific one. He was asking for a 'replica' of the most powerful sword in existence.

"Without knowing anything else about you, except that you came to me, I feel comfortable saying that's going to be out of your reach, financially," he answered.

"Yeah, that's fair," Keenan chuckled.

"So, since La Espada replica is out, how about I show you some of our fine guns?" Jaelin thought he was on the right track, but Keenan shook his head.

"No, no, I still want a sword. I quite enjoy swordplay," he chuckled. "Are you sure you understand the whole 'immortality' thing?"

"I guess not?" Jaelin's honesty was part of what landed him a position in the Chroma tower. He was never afraid to admit when he didn't understand something. "Guns are superior in every way, you don't have to risk anything by getting close to use a sword."

"That's true," Keenan nodded with a smile. "But, I can see you're still not fully comprehending 'immortal', so let me ask you another question. Assuming I find myself in a violent encounter that requires me to get close with my sword, what exactly am I risking?"
