THE MOMENT
“Uhhhh. Huh.” J.J. considered the situation. She was face to face with an unconscious vampire hanging upside. His extra pale skin glowed in the moonlit coming in through the windows, and his mouth hung open as he slept exposing his fangs.
“Well this is a bad surprise...,” she sighed and quietly left the room.
[The target is a vampire. - J.J.]. She sent a Whisper to the dispatcher.
[Did we know that? - J.J. ]
[Are you sure? - Ozone]
“Pretty sure….,” J.J. Mumbled to herself and decided to double check. This was her first gig with the new group and she wanted to do a good job. She walked back into the room as the vampire woke up and found himself bound upside down.
“What's going on? Who are you?” he asked. He wriggled himself trying to break free, but whatever she tied him up with was too strong.
“Are you a vampire?” J. J. asked.
“What do you think?” he answered with annoyance then hissed at her while baring his fangs.
“K. Thanks.” J.J. nodded and turned to leave the room again.
“Wait! What's happening!? What do-?” his words were interrupted by a flood of spiders crawling into his mouth as J.J. left.
[Yeah. I'm sure. - J.J.] she replied.
[Damnit. Stand by. - Ozone]. He answered and J.J. shrugged. She passed the time by creating an intricate web on the coffee table with her spiders. About 10 minutes later she got new instructions.
[Contract dropped. Client misrepresented the situation. - Ozone.]
[Gotcha. - J.J. ] she answered as she stood up. He gave her more context as she walked into the bedroom again and she giggled as spiders worked together to gently lower the vampire victim and set him free.
"Congratulations, someone only kind of wanted you dead," she said as he slowly got to his feet. "If they'd wanted you dead more, they might have shared all the necessary information."
"Who?" he asked. He got the impression she was letting him go and he didn't want to shine a light on it, so he didn't ask her what she was going to do next.
"You'll never guess," she smirked. "I can say he's a werewolf," she added with a broad shrug. "Though, I'm sure that's not a surprise to you."
"No," he shook his head. He'd had time to think, and since he was stuck hanging upside it was all he could do. At some point he assumed she was a professional assassin and as he considered the list of names that wanted him dead one stood out from the others. "I know exactly what dirty dog is responsible for this. How does your job work? Can I hire you?" he asked.
"If you promise to be honest," J.J. shrugged with a smile. "And, you'll have to talk to my boss."
"Please," he nodded. "Get me an appointment; there's a werewolf I want you to kill."
"Okay," J.J. nodded. "I'll even put in a good word for you. Normally, there's an extra surcharge for assassinating a Fae creature; but, if it's the guy who already tried to cheat us, I'm sure we can work out something under the table."
