THE MOMENT
"Are you sure?" Lucifer asked. The rotund, blonde man in a white suit sat across from his boss, Dana Sharp, in her white office. He never would have considered questioning Ms. Sharp, but her suggestion caught him off guard. Questioning it was the only response he could think of. "Let him?" he asked for confirmation.
"I like that about you, Lucifer; you're not afraid to reveal your idiocy to ask for more clarity," Ms. Sharp responded. "He signed a contract. Of course, we can't just let him walk out of Hell. However, we can allow him to continue trying; there's no harm in that. He sold his soul to eternal torment; but, that torment can take any form. Be creative." Lucifer thought for a moment. The ruddiness on his fair skin still glowed bright-pink from embarrassment.
"I got it!" he said. He smiled broadly. "Thank you, Ms. Sharp!" Dana shook her head.
"Tell me about it, first," she said.
"Like you said, I'll let him escape," Lucifer replied. "Let him get a taste of fresh air and see the stars with his own eyes. Every night he'll think he escaped, just to walk right back into Hell again. What d'ya think?" he asked with the enthusiasm of a child eager to show his work off.
"It's a start," Dana Sharp added. "Get a Muerte to put him in a conscious loop too. It's too easy if he were to forget every morning. The man purchased eternal torment, and our customers are our top priority."
