THE MOMENT

"Ladies, welcome to Chroma Corp.," Orion smiled at the small group of women. The six women and Orion sat in a small board room in the middle of the morning. A sleek, oval table made of dark, polished wood reflected the soft glow of the overhead lights. The women all sat in high-backed leather chairs around the table focused on the handsome man in a royal blue suit with a mirror-chrome tie. "You all represent the best women we could find in a world where men often occupy these seats. It's not just your skills that brought you here, but the unique insights you've developed throughout your lives on this Earth."

"Chroma Corp. thrives on diversity," he gestured to the Chroma Corp. emblem on the wall behind him. "We believe true innovation stems from a mosaic of perspectives and experiences. Here, we don't just acknowledge the value women bring; we celebrate it. We seek it out, we depend on it."

"Your talents will be pivotal across all of Chroma Corp., not just this branch," Orion continued. He lets the sentence hang in the air, watching as women each showed varying degrees of curiosity. "Our corporation serves hundreds of thousands of alternate Earths." Orion grinned when no questions came. By the time they reached this interview, they were already primed to take in that information, even if they hadn't registered it yet. "In your careers, you've been the exception, not the rule. But here at Chroma Corp., our imbalances are by design. We strategize to empower the minority, to turn what others see as a challenge into our most formidable strength."

"What sort of worlds are we talking about?" One of the women asked.

"Any one you decide is ideal for you," Orion replied. "We will arrange for you to live comfortably on any Earth you like, and you can simply commute to the office if you choose a different Earth. Multiverse travel is as simple as walking between rooms."

"Is this for real?" another woman asked. Even with the information carefully drip-fed to them throughout the hiring process it was still a lot to take in. Some people had a more difficult time adapting.

"It is," Orion nodded. "I believe all of you know about the skewed demographics on this Earth; 1 in every four children is female...," he said.

"Skewed?" another woman asked. "What do you mean... are there other Earths that are different?"

"Indeed," Orion nodded. "Imagine a world where the demographic scales are tipped the other way—75% female, 25% male. A 50/50 split tends to be the most common across the multiverse; but there are exceptions; such as your Earth." The room fell silent, every attendee wondered at the possibilities. "Chroma values uniqueness, and with this, you'll bring change across the multiverse."

"Today, you're not just joining a company; you're becoming pioneers," Orion said. "We want all of you to join one of the other Earths that favor Women. You will travel to these alternate Earths and share your unique perspective cultivated in a male-dominated world. You'll help balance out the perspective of women in a female-dominated world. At the same time, of course, we have a group of men from over there ready to bring a similar perspective to this Earth."

"I kind of get that there's a huge multiverse out there; but, I think it's still kind of weird that Chroma Corp. happened to find two Earth that happened to lean toward one gender or the other...," one of the women raised her hand and lowered it as she explained her question. "...or am I misunderstanding how big the multiverse is? Is it actually pretty to common to have Earths leaning more toward matriarchy or patriarchy?" Orion grinned and shook his head.

"On the whole, it's not that common. These Earths were designed to be this way by Chroma Corp. Specifically for the purpose that I'm welcoming you here today."

"Designed... Chroma Corp. made the Earths this way.....??"

"You'll find that at Chroma Corp., we don't just open doors; we create realities," Orion smirked. "We unlock universes and you six are about to step through."
