THE MOMENT
"Wait, what?" Edward was instantly confused as soon as they entered the small shop, and Patty's sudden revelation didn't help. She'd talked up a 'neat' video store she'd found, and she convinced him to stop in on their way to a lunch meeting.
As they approached from the outside, the store looked like a narrow brick shop wedged between two pawn shops. It didn't look large at all, and he was glad for that; they were on a schedule. Except, walking through the door revealed a misplaced warehouse interior instead of the 10-foot space he expected. It was vast and brightly lit, with dozens of shelves loaded with movie cases back to back. An immense holographic chrome sign hovered high in the air, read: "Chroma Video Rental".
"Yeah," Patty repeated. "All the films here come from alternate timelines."
Edward sighed, then immediately walked out of the spacious, tiny shop.
"Hey!" Patty was surprised and chased after him. "Aren't we gonna look around?"
"We're meeting the others for lunch...," he said as he resumed walking toward the restaurant. "Of course I want to look around, but we don't have time right now," he said with minor annoyance. “They’ve been rolling out the multiverse for half a year!” He wasn’t normally so easily agitated, but he’d left the house that way. He knew it wasn’t Patty’s fault, but so did she. He was free to speak his mind.
"If you'd told me earlier, we would've just planned to come here after lunch instead of wasting this trip. Seriously, did you have to wait until we were there to tell me it was a Chroma video? We could've been at the diner already."
