THE MOMENT

"It seems Melody has a sense of humor...," the lean man in a navy blue suit commented when he reached the table. He confirmed the name card, then nodded at the imposing red-skinned man with pitch-black horns as he sat next to him. The red giant couldn't help but chuckle as she shook his head.

"Oh god, not you...," he said. "I'm surprised you came," he added. The lean man gave him a curt nod.

"I wouldn't miss today for anything," he replied. "I'm curious how things will play out."

"You mean you don't already know?" The large red man chuckled. The lean man shook his head.

"Not this time," he said. "Ever since the Green Tornados won against the Skullcrushers everything has been different. The novelty has proven entertaining," he said.

"Ballisea can no longer revert to the old timeline," the horned-man said. "You're risking a lot by letting this 'entertainment' continue." The lean man shrugged.

"Honestly, I might have bitten off more than I can chew with Dana," he chuckled. The red man took on a worried expression.

"But.. you can put everything back the way it was.. right?" he asked.

"Let me answer your question with an observation," the lean man said. The red man rolled his eyes; even in a casual chat, God couldn't give him a direct answer.

"We know how to be civilized; but, you and I have had quite a few spectacularly violent encounters. Most people wouldn't invite both of us to the same function; but, here we are seated next to each other."

"Yeah... and?" the horned-giant asked.

"Melody arranged the seating, likely with input from Dana," he said. "I don't know about you, but I'm going to be on my best behavior. I do not want to get on Dana Sharp's bad side."
